Tom and Missi Trask. . .
were married on January 3, 2003. As children they both felt that God wanted them to serve as Missionaries. Within six months of them getting married the amazing opportunity of working with Chi Alpha at Missouri State University fell into their laps. They stayed there for two years training and working on staff. In the fall of 2005 they were offered the position of Chi Alpha Directors at Mizzou, which they accepted and began in the summer of 2006.
Tom attended Evangel University and received his MA from Missouri State University. Missi went to the University of Southern Maine. Their passion and desire is to see Jesus touch the lives of every student at Mizzou. Their prayer is to see every student involved in Chi Alpha develop a personal relationship with Jesus as they daily grow closer to Him.
On a personal note, Tom and Missi love to hang out with students and friends, play games, drink coffee, and play with their 75 pound Great Pyrenees who is so lovable and sweet she has become the Chi Alpha mascot. They would love to add you to their family so they can affectionately call you one of their "kids."
James and Kim Boley. . .
were married on July 4th, 2009. They met Kim’s freshman year at Missouri State in Springfield, MO at a Chi Alpha worship service. The next four years, as their relationship with God became stronger, so did their friendship with each other as both became strong student leaders in the ministry.
When they graduated in May 2006, James with his degree in Art Education and Kim with her degree in Creative Writing, both followed God’s individual call on their lives. Kim moved to Columbia to join the staff of Chi Alpha while James moved to Japan as a missionary for six months. After Japan, James spent the following semester with Mizzou Chi Alpha. The next two years, he taught middle school art in Dixon, MO. After that, he followed God’s next step for his life and joined the Chi Alpha staff in Columbia July 2009.
They are also very social people and love to just hang out. Especially if coffee is involved. Or sports. Or the outdoors. Or coffee. Both are a bit nerdy and share some strange interests such as X-men and mythology to name a couple. James loves video games, Japan, and drawing while Kim enjoys photography, literature, and writing.
James and Kim love Jesus and love people. They hope that everyone they know will see His love in them and come to know Jesus in a real and personal way.
Missy Boyer. . .
is a proud 2009 graduate of Mizzou’s School of Journalism. She got involved with Chi Alpha her freshman year, remained on the leadership team throughout college, and was elected the student president her senior year. Missy asked Tom and Missi if she could come
on staff after she felt the call from God to full-time ministry with Chi Alpha.
Missy is the Freshman Outreach Coordinator and the Promotions Director. She leads a small group with a couple of the girls on the leadership team and enjoys mentoring the freshmen girls she meets.
Missy loves to act crazy and have fun whenever she can. Spontaneous dance parties and java chip frapacinos are her favorite! On her off days, she loves to watch TLC and HGTV. If you can’t find her at the Chi Alpha house or in Johnston Dorm hanging with the girls, she’s probably in Park Hills, MO with her Mom and Dad because she's just that cool.
Julie Hutton. . .
Julie Hutton graduated from Mizzou’s College of Education in May 2010 with a degree in early childhood/elementary education. She got involved with Chi Alpha her freshman year and let God take the reigns in her life. The next year she stepped onto the ministry’s leadership team and was elected the student president her senior year. She’s gone on the Chi Alpha mission trip to Jamaica every year. She feels that the Lord had called her to do missions there sometime in the future.
In January 2010, Julie listened to the Lord’s call on her life to start full-time ministry with Chi Alpha at Mizzou. Her heart is to see students come into a personal relationship with Jesus and live an empowered life through his Holy Spirit.
Julie loves to sing, whether it’s while blow-drying her hair or jamming out with the worship team. There’s always a song to be sung! Some of her hobbies are painting cool designs on her nails and playing games like Spades and Settlers of Catan. Above all, she loves hanging out with people and making new friends!
Mike Towers...
Mike Towers graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering from Mizzou in December 2010. He got involved in Chi Alpha the summer after his freshman year and soon realized that his life was in desperate need of God. At the end of his sophomore year, he stepped onto Chi Alpha’s leadership team and served as the Activities Coordinator through the rest of college.
Mike felt the call to missions work in December 2008, and he stepped on to staff in June 2010. He deeply desires to see students come to know how much God loves them and enter into a powerful and life-changing relationship with Him.
Mike loves music, video games, and sports, especially ultimate Frisbee! His hobbies include camping, chilling out around a fire, and just chilling with friends doing whatever.
What is Chi Alpha?
Chi Alpha Campus Ministries is a Christian campus ministry on universities throughout the United States and around the world. We are a movement of college-age men and women earnestly following Jesus. Althouth the name is greek, we are not a fraternity or sorority. A big part of the bible was written in greek, and our name comes from the phrase "Christ's ambassadors" (XA).That reminds us that we need to live our lives as a reflection of the life Jesus has offered us. We invite everyone to be a part, regardless of background.
What is Chi Alpha's vision?
To be a community of passionate Christian college students at the University of Missouri. Dedicating ourselves to telling the campus about the love and life changing power of Jesus Christ. We believe that by reaching and making disciples of students at Mizzou, it will inevitably result in the world forever being changed.
What's important to Chi Alpha?
Worship. . .Thanking God for who He is and what He does.
